Dr. Ann D'Andrea will soon mark her 30th year providing psychological services to a population of adolescents and adults in the greater Los Angeles area. Her primary practice has been in Westwood. She also had a satellite office in Westlake Village for about twenty years.

Her areas of expertise include the treatment of depression and anxiety; bi-polar disorders; personality disorders; stress related issues and those involving adjustment to major life changes and trauma. Dr. D'Andrea works primarily with high-functioning individuals and couples, helping them to understand and manage their psychological issues in order to maintain their level of performance.

Dr. Ann D'Andrea received a B.A. with honors from Hunter College in NYC: Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Sigma (biological sciences honor society). After a fellowship in biochemistry at Columbia University and a year at Cornell, she returned to NYC and earned a M.A. at New York University.

While in NYC, she had the opportunity to work with adolescents and young adults whose families were in the U,S, as members of delegations to the United Nations. These young people from many and diverse cultures were struggling with issues of acculturation as well as language. Although a native of the U.S., Dr. D'Andrea's own experience of having been raised in a bi-lingual and bi-cultural home, rendered her uniquely suited to provide the empathy and support many of them needed. These years provided the foundation for the work she does today with patients of diverse cultures.

When Dr. D'Andrea relocated to Los Angeles, she completed a Ph.D. at the California School of Professional Psychology, one of the first free-standing schools of psychology in the country and one recognized by the American Psychological Association.

While interning at the Center for Legal Psychiatry, founded at UCLA, she became interested in the subject of joint-physical-custody of children of divorce, a relatively new concept at the time. Her doctoral research caught the attention of Los Angeles Family Court judges and commissioners who invited her to share her findings at their meetings. Although her interests and areas of practice have grown since then, Dr. D'Andrea's concern for the best interest of children has remained strong.

In 1984, Dr. Ann D'Andrea was accepted for inclusion in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. She has been licensed in the state of California since 1983 and is a member of the California Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association.
